Introducing the Core Commit Program: Empowering Developers to Build the Future of Core

The Core Foundation, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to fostering development across the Core blockchain ecosystem, is thrilled to announce the launch of the Core Commit Program, an exciting new initiative designed to incentivize developers for building next-gen innovative decentralized applications (dApps) on the Core blockchain. This program offers developers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Core ecosystem while earning rewards for their progressive and meaningful contributions.

What is the Core Commit Program?

As Core continues to expand, it should be underscored that the developers building on Core play a vital role in shaping the future of the Core ecosystem. The Core Commit Program is a Call for Innovation aimed at developers who are ready to push boundaries and bring new ideas to life on Core. Each month, other than numerous learning opportunities, developers will have the chance to earn rewards based on their code commits, i.e., progression on their dApp developments.

This program is designed not only to encourage continuous development but also to support early-stage projects with tailored resources to help them achieve long-term success. Developers who participate will receive access to 1:1 mentorship, partnership opportunities, support from the Core community and ecosystem, and even potential funding from Core Ventures—Core Foundation’s venture capital and incubation arm.

Program Overview and Rewards

The Core Commit Program is a 3 months program, with the first cohort from 1st October 24 to 9th March, 2024, inclusive of application submission period. During this time, up to 10 developer teams will be selected by Core Foundation to develop dApps on Core, receive support from Core Foundation’s BD, DevRel and Ventures team, and receive rewards based on their monthly performance. Here's how it works:

  • Application Submission and Review: From October 14th to November 14th, 2024, developers can submit their applications, selecting either from the Core Commit wishlist of curated project ideas provided by the Core Foundation or propose from themselves.
  • Grants and Mentorship: The selected teams will embark on their development journey starting December 9th, 2024. Depending on their performance and project progress, each team will be eligible to receive up to $2,500 worth of CORE tokens per month.
  • Total Rewards: A pool of $75,000 USD worth of CORE tokens will be distributed over the program’s three-month duration, with $25,000 USD worth of CORE tokens being awarded each month based on performance across ten projects.
  • Demo Day: At the end of the program, teams that have successfully completed the development of their projects, will have the chance to showcase their projects during the Demo Day.

Reward Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for rewards, developers must meet the following criteria:

  • Open-Source Projects: Code must be open-sourced (Apache 2.0, GNU LGPL-3.0, or MIT) and publicly available via GitHub.
  • Detailed Project Plan and Execution Timeline: Applicants must submit detailed, stepped execution plans to gauge their progress of meeting their goals. Rewards are granted based on teams’ abilities to meet those goals in the form of code commits.
  • Progressive Commits: Code commits must be meaningful and contribute significantly to the progress of the project. Core Foundation will have the final say in whether code commits live up to these requirements. Examples include but are not limited to these: -Adding new features or functionalities. -Fixing significant bugs. -Enhancing security measures. -Optimizing performance. -Improving user interface and user experience. -Adding comprehensive test suites.
  • Valid Proof of Work: Developers must submit their work via GitHub code commits to demonstrate meaningful progress.

Why Apply for the Core Commit Program?

Participating in the Core Commit Program offers more than just rewards—it provides an unparalleled opportunity to become a part of Core’s vibrant developer community and ecosystem. Here’s why you should apply:

  • Earn Rewards for Progress: Developers are rewarded based on the quality and milestone completion as per code commits, motivating continuous innovation and project advancement. Developers must demonstrate their progress through clear proof of work, in the form of code commits, showing consistent contributions to their project.
  • Tailored Support and Mentorship: Gain access to personalized mentorship from Core Ventures and other ecosystem experts, helping you refine your product, scale your solution, and find product-market fit.
  • Guidance and Support from Core Ventures: Core Ventures, the investment arm of Core blockchain, will provide direct support and guidance.
  • Engage with the Core Community: Get the chance to participate with Core Contributors and other ecosystem projects in AMAs, webinars, and other community-building initiatives, engaging with other developers, investors, and stakeholders.
  • Build Impactful dApps: Contribute to the growth of the Core blockchain by building cutting-edge dApps that enhance the ecosystem, bring value to the decentralized world, and become part of the BTCfi revolution.
